Twitter (X) Video Download API
One HTTP call turns an x.com or twitter.com post URL into direct MP4 links plus metadata — tweet text, author handle, duration and thumbnail. No X developer account, no API tier to buy.
Also try it instantly on the homepage trial box — no login needed.

x.com and twitter.com URLs
Both domains resolve through the same endpoint. Paste the post URL as it appears in the browser or the share sheet.
HD and SD MP4
Each response lists the highest-quality MP4 first, then a smaller SD rendition when X serves one — pick by the quality tag.
Tweet text and author included
The title field carries the post text and the author field the @handle, so you can index, caption or attribute the clip without a second request.
AI-native delivery
Same API behind a CLI (`soclip`) and an MCP server for Claude Desktop / Cursor — your agents can pull X videos in one tool call.
$0.002 per extraction (2 credits). 500 free credits on signup — credits never expire.
See Pricing →Twitter (X) Video Download API FAQ
Can I download X videos with the official X API?
The official X API does not hand out a simple downloadable file for a post URL, and media access sits behind paid API tiers and an approved developer account. soclip takes a plain post URL and returns direct MP4 links plus metadata in one request.
Does it work with both x.com and twitter.com links?
Yes. Either domain works, with or without tracking parameters.
What happens with protected or deleted posts?
The API returns a clear error (media unavailable) and the 2 credits are refunded automatically. You are only charged for successful extractions.
Is downloading X videos legal?
Only download videos you have the right to use — your own content or content you have permission for — and respect the platform's terms. The API returns media links; what you do with them is your responsibility.
How much does it cost?
Each media extraction costs 2 credits ($0.002). New accounts get 500 free credits — enough for 250 extractions. Credits never expire.
