Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of soclip.dev and the soclip API, CLI and MCP server (together, “the Service”). By creating an account or calling the API you agree to them.
1. What the Service does
You send the Service a public social video URL. It returns metadata and direct media links published by the source platform. soclip does not host, store, copy, transcode or proxy any media file — the links point at the original platform's own servers and you fetch them yourself.
2. Your account
Accounts are created through GitHub sign-in. You are responsible for everything done with your API key, including calls made by agents, scripts or third parties you hand the key to. Rotate it from the dashboard if you believe it has leaked.
One person or organisation, one account. Creating extra accounts to collect the free credit grant repeatedly is abuse and those accounts may be closed without refund.
3. Acceptable use
You may only request URLs you have the right to access and process — your own content, content you are licensed to use, or content whose use is otherwise permitted by law and by the source platform's terms. You are solely responsible for what you do with the returned links and files.
You must not use the Service to:
- infringe copyright or any other right of a third party;
- circumvent paywalls, private accounts, DRM or other access controls;
- collect personal data in violation of applicable privacy law;
- distribute malware, or attack, overload or reverse-engineer the Service;
- resell raw access to the API as an undifferentiated substitute for it.
We may suspend an account that we reasonably believe is doing any of the above.
4. Credits and payment
The Service is prepaid. 1 credit = US$0.001. A successful resolve costs 2 credits; checking your balance is free. Credits do not expire, are not transferable, and have no cash value outside the Service.
Calls that fail are not charged: if the upstream resolver breaks, or the URL turns out to be unsupported, private or dead, the credits taken for that call are returned to your balance automatically.
Payments are processed by Whop (whop.com), our payment provider. Whop's terms apply to the payment itself.
5. Availability
The Service depends on upstream providers and on the source platforms themselves. Platform changes can break resolution for a given site at any time, and we make no guarantee that any particular URL, platform or resolution will keep working. There is no uptime SLA on the current plans.
We may apply rate or capacity limits to keep the Service available for everyone.
6. Liability
The Service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose.
You are responsible for your own use of the returned media, and you agree to indemnify us against claims arising from that use.
7. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date below. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
