Video Downloader API
A single HTTP call accepts a video URL from any supported platform and returns direct download links plus metadata. One API instead of four separate integrations.
Also try it instantly on the homepage trial box — no login needed.

One endpoint, four platforms
TikTok, Instagram, X/Twitter and Facebook — all behind the same POST /v1/media call.
Unified response shape
Every platform returns the same normalized JSON schema: title, duration, thumbnail, author and a sorted list of direct media links.
A hosted yt-dlp alternative
Get what yt-dlp gives you without running your own downloader infrastructure, IP pools or anti-bot maintenance. One curl call instead.
AI-native delivery
Same API behind a CLI (`soclip`) and an MCP server for Claude Desktop / Cursor — your agents can pull videos from any platform directly.
$0.002 per extraction (2 credits). 500 free credits on signup — credits never expire.

What platforms does the Video Downloader API support?
TikTok, Instagram, X/Twitter and Facebook are supported today. If a video has a URL, try it — the API reports unsupported platforms clearly.
How is this different from yt-dlp?
yt-dlp is a self-hosted tool: you install it, maintain it, and manage proxies and breakage when platforms change. soclip is a hosted API — the extraction layer is maintained for you, and the same key works in HTTP, CLI and MCP.
Does the API download the file for me?
No — soclip returns direct media links only. You fetch the file yourself with curl, a download manager, or your own pipeline. This keeps the API fast, cheap and reliable.
Is downloading videos legal?
Only download videos you have the right to use — your own content or content you have permission for — and respect each platform's terms. The API returns media links; what you do with them is your responsibility.
How much does it cost?
Each media extraction costs 2 credits ($0.002). New accounts get 500 free credits — enough for 250 extractions. Credits never expire.
