Reels and posts

A Reel URL and a regular post URL resolve through the same endpoint. No special-casing on your side.

Carousel posts

Multi-image carousels return every image in the post, each with its own direct link.

No scraping infrastructure

Instagram is notoriously hard to scrape — no public web API, aggressive rate limiting. The resolution layer is maintained for you.

AI-native delivery

Same API behind a CLI (`soclip`) and an MCP server for Claude Desktop / Cursor — your agents can pull Instagram media directly.

$0.002 per extraction (2 credits). 500 free credits on signup — credits never expire.

Instagram Video Download API FAQ

Does Instagram have an official download API?

Instagram's Graph API exists but requires app review, has tight quotas, and offers no simple URL-to-direct-link endpoint for public content. soclip accepts a plain Instagram URL and returns downloadable media links plus metadata in one request.

Does the Instagram Video Download API work with Reels?

Yes. Reel URLs resolve through the same endpoint as regular posts, returning the same normalized JSON shape.

Does it support carousel posts?

Yes — image carousels return one media entry per image, so a 5-photo post returns 5 entries, each with its own direct link.

Is downloading Instagram videos legal?

Only download media you have the right to use — your own content or content you have permission for — and respect the platform's terms. The API returns media links; what you do with them is your responsibility.

How much does it cost?

Each media extraction costs 2 credits ($0.002). New accounts get 500 free credits — enough for 250 extractions. Credits never expire.
